Objective
Research objectives and content
It is proposed to apply recently developed non-perturbative techniques to the renormalization of composite operators which appear in effective Hamiltonians of the weak interactions. This project can be viewed as part of a general approach to the non-perturbative renormalization problem of QCD, based on numerical simulations and finite size techniques. As a result one may be able to determine various non-leptonic weak matrix elements to a good numerical precision and with controlled systematic errors. This is required for a better understanding of CP violation and to determine some of the fundamental parameters of the Standard Model of elementary particle physics.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
