Objective
Research objectives and content
The aim of this project is the exploration of new synthetic routes which would lead to the total synthesis of the important | antimitotic agent spongistatin 1. In the course of this work several synthetic methodologies, mainly chiral aldol reactions, already developed at the host research group would be applied. In addition, there would be a need for the development of new . methods which would be also suitable for a general application in Organic Synthesis. The objective of this project could be extended towards the preparation of synthetic analogues of the natural product in order to test their biological and pharmacological activities. Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
The fulfilment of this project would improve the research training received by the applicant during his Ph.D. period in the field of Organic Synthesis, and would be useful for a future work in EU Universities or industries.
