Research objectives and content
THE AIM OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT IS TO STUDY THE BONDED JOINTS, WHERE TWO ADHERING PARTS ARE LINKED BY AND ADHESIVE WHICH HAS A VERY SMALL THICKNESS. WE PLAN TO DESCRIBE IT AS A 'STRUCTURED' SURFACE: THE ADHERENTS ARE CONNECTED ALONG THE COMMON BOUNDARY BY A NON CLASSICAL TRANSMISSION CONDITION. BY APPLYING A WELL CODIFIED TECHNIQUE, WE WILL STUDY THE CASE OF LINEAR ELASTIC, NON LINEAR ELASTIC, VISCO-ELASTIC, ELASTO-PLASTIC ADHESIVE, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE CONSTRAINT OF IMPENETRABILITY BETWEEN THE ADHERENTS. THE ADHERENTS WILL BE CHARACTERISED AS GENERIC 3D BODIES OR AS 2D BODIES (PLATES, SHELLS, ETC.). FURTHERMORE, WE WILL ANALYSE THE DYNAMICS OF THE JOINTS.
THE MAIN RESULTS OF THE PROJECT CONSIST 1) IN FURNISHING DIFFERENT MODELISATIONS OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE BONDED JOINT, EACH APPLYING IN DIFFERENT CASES; 2) IN CHECKING (THEORETICALLY, NUMERICALLY AND EXPERIMENTALLY) THESE MODELS; 3) IN DEVELOPING A UNIFYING VISION OF THE NEW AND OF THE OLD MODELS DEVELOPED INDEPENDENTLY AND 4) IN CONSTRUCTING THE ACTUAL (NUMERICAL OR ANALYTICAL) SOLUTION OF THE MAIN PROBLEMS ARISING IN THE APPLICATIONS.
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
A PERIOD OF STUDY IN ONE OF THE EUROPEAN MOST FAMOUS UNIVERSITY POLE (JUSSIEU) WILL FURNISH A GREAT ADVANCE IN THE SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL GROWTH OF THE APPLICANT. IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO RELATED WITH A WIDE NUMBER OF FAMOUS SCIENTIST, TO INSERT IN A INTELLECTUALLY VIVACIOUS ENVIRONMENT AND TO WORK ON THE MOST ADVANCED TOPICS OF RESEARCH. THE TRAINING WILL ALSO BE USEFUL FOR THE HOST INSTITUTION, BECAUSE IT WILL HAVE A FREE, FULL-TIME QUALIFIED PERSON WORKING ON ONE OF THE RESEARCHES THEME OF THE LABORATORY. THE RESULTS WILL HAVE A DOUBLE INTEREST FOR THE INDUSTRIES. FIRST, THE AIM OF THE RESEARCH IS TO OBTAIN CHECKED MODELS WHICH CAN DIRECTLY BE USED. SECONDARILY, WE PLAN TO SOLVE THE MAIN PROBLEMS ARlSING IN APPLICATIONS. CONTACTS WITH INDUSTRIES ARE PLANNED IN ORDER TO CHOSE THE MORE IMPORTANT SPECIMENS TO BE SOLVED. IN THIS WAY, INDUSTRIES WILL BE INVOLVED IN THE PLANNING AND IN THE EXECUTION OF THE PROJECT. CONTACTS HAVE BEEN STARTED AND ARE NOW IN PROGRESS.
