Classification of pro-p-groups

Objective

Research objectives and content
A big part of mathematics today is about classifying mathematical objects. In my Cand. Scient. thesis (Oslo 1996), I treated the classification of p-groups and Demuskin-groups using cohomological methods by deformations of the representations. This theory is based on the work of my supervisor, Prof.O.A.Laudal. He showed that any finitely generated pro-p-group G is characterized by its first and second cohomdogy group follows from this, and as far as I can see, so do the groups of order p5 and p6. Therefore I ask myself the following: Can we, by studying abstract
Massey-product-structures, get a general classification of pro-p-groups by analogy with the moduli-theory for modules, singularities or Lie-algebras? This can hopefully be reduced to finding the moduli-space for the formal Massey-product-structure on two Fp-vector space H1 nd H2.
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
Dr. Dan Segal, U. Oxford, is a leading authority on the theory of pro-p-groups, and he has agred to supervise my research. I therefore expect to learn a lot working at the Mathematical Institute in Oxford; how researchers work and, of course, learn more mathematics.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
