Geometries close to spherical buildings with residual linear spaces

Objective

Research objectives and content
My project aims at making a general theory of the flag-transitive L-diagrams. It relies on the classification of the rank two case, namely the one of the finite flag-transitive linear spaces. The idea is that a treatment of the cases of small ranks can be used as a basis to study the cases of higher rank. In rank three, there are three L-diagrams. The most interesting one is L.L* since the other two have been classified under some general assumptions. The situation in higher rank is completely unexplored.
My study of L-diagrams would treat in parallel on the one hand the question of the classification of the rank three L-diagram L .L* and on the other hand repercussions of results in rank three for the higher rank. This original and ambitious project has akeady been started in an encouraging way in my Ph. D.
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
Prof. P. Cameron is one of the top experts in my field of research, especially in questions | related with group theory and in combinatorics. The training should therefore complement in a powerfull way my formation of geometer and enable me to become an expert of international level in the context of 'Diagram Geometries and the Geometries of Groups'. Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
