Objective
Research objectives and content
The aim of the project is to design and synthesise new metal complexes with high sensitivity in electrochemiluminescence detection. A new class of metal complexes with high emission quantum yield and different redox properties will be synthesised choosing appropriate substituents and varying the metal ion. The new compounds will be investigated with electrochemical methods and in electrochemiluminescence. Then, appropriate molecules will be made available with reactive functional groups (labels) for conjugation to biomolecules (Proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, haptens). The conjugates will be further evaluated as substitutes in routine assay, e.g. HIV, progesterone, DNA analysis.
Training content (objective, benefit and expected impact)
The proposed project will train the candidate in organic synthesis, electrochemical and biochemical methods and applications in immunoassays and DNA testing. This research will have a lot of impact on the carrer prospects of the candidate, broadening her knowledge in different topies, acquiring new skills and industrial experience.
Links with industry / industrial relevance (22)
The project would be carried out in the research laboratories of an industry and would investigate new systems and improve products already in the market.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
