Explosion and flame propagation within two-phase media

Objective

The proposed research project is motivated by the recent results of explosion studies done by Ben Gurion U. and Leeds U. which reveal the occurrence of long-time delay effects, that can be used in further analysis of flame propagation in two-pha media. Specifically we plan to address: (1) Flame propagation in combustible gas-liquid foams, and its relation to explosion problems, (2) Explosion and flame propagation in sprays, both when the spray is combustible (as in engines) and inert (as in water sprinklers), (3) Flame propagation in liquids containing combustible gas bubbles, and its relation to explosions. In terms of training, I will be trained more effectively in (1) Collaborative research with Leeds University - well known as one of Europe's leading Combustion Centres, (2) Giving of Research Seminars at Leeds, Manchester (UMIST) and elsewhere, (3) Improvement of English language + communication skills, (4) Opportunity to improve in transferrable skills - use of advanced computers, software etc. In terms of industrial involvement, I will have access to experimental project data from work sponsored by BOC Ltd. on burner design and interact with other projects on ignition with industrial applications.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
