Objective

The ASDEF (Advanced Structural Dynamic Experimental
Facilities) group of European Laboratories provide a unique combination of facilities for advanced structural, seismic and dynamic experimentation and analysis. Alone in the world ASDEF's facilities provide for multiple complementary techniques for the assessment of dynamic behaviour of large scale models and full size structures in diverse fields which include civil, structural, process, geotechnical and offshore engineering. The participating large-scale laboratories are:
- LBTF, CARDINGTON Large Building Test Facility, which is part of the UK'S Building Research Establishment (BRE).
- ELSA, the large reaction-wall facility of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission at Ispra in Italy.
- TAMARIS, the large shaking table and dynamic testing laboratory of Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique (CEA) at Saclay in France.
- ISMES, the Structural and Dynamic Testing Laboratory at Bergamo in Italy.
ASDEF will provide young researchers from across the EU with access to the full range of large scale dynamic facilities including
electromechanical and electrohydraulic shakers, impact facilities, shaking tables and reaction wall pseudo-dynamic testing.
The TAMARIS shaking table enables large scale models to undergo seismic tests. In addition to the training of the users for defining and conducting such tests, they will be able to improve the knowledge on seismic behaviour of buildings.
Some specific aspects will be analysed by these tests: dynamic effect, boundary conditions at the base of the structure and eccentricity in the building.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
