DESIGN, SYNTHESIS and STUDY OF NOVEL NON-LINEAR OPTICAL MATERIALS

Objective

The post-doctoral fellows will work in a multidisciplinary research (a) To recognise, design and synthesise derivatives with large non-linear environment aiming at encouraging their curiosity and providing up-to-date electric properties. Among the sets of compounds which will be training in methods related to the design, synthesis, measurement and investigated, we note the molecules connecting ferrocenyl moieties with theory of non-linear optical materials. In particular they will be taught highly polarising bulky groups (e.g. tris(pyrazolyl)borato molybdenum) and synthetic methods in connection with the chemistry of Mo, W. Fe, co and lithium alkoxide derivatives of stilbenes and their polyvinylogues. Rh, as well as alkali metal alkoxides. They will be introduced to (b) To measure and calculate the non-linear properties of the above characterisation by electrochemical methodology and measurements by derivatives and thus to strengthen the interaction between experimental second- and third-harmonic generation, picosecond Kerr ellipsometry, dual and theoretical groups.
holography etc. They will also obtain experience in the molecular (c) To relate the material response in crystal and liquid phase to simulation of non-crystalline bulk phases, in Monte Carlo and molecular response. This task will provide know-how in an area where our multi-dimensional translation state theory. In addition, they will acquire know-how regarding the state-of-the-art electronic theories of matter, understanding is currently very weak.
(d) To develop a reliable and up-to-date theoretical tool for the both ab-initio and semi-empirical.
determination of the nonlinear properties of organic and organometallic compounds.
(e) To investigate topics aiming at broadening our insight in the non-linear properties e.g. the determination of vibrational and rotational contributions, and the study of interaction induced non-linear properties. We must emphasise that most of the above objectives require skills and know-how not available by a single team. Accomplishment of the proposed research programme will significantly contribute to our understanding of the design, synthesis, measurement and theory of NLO materials.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
