Potentials and applications of microreaction technology in europe

Objective

Microreaction technology (MRT) is a rapidly emerging field which will radically change the ways the chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry manufacture their products. Increasing activities in the USA and in Japan show that this is more and more understood by Europe's major competitors. This in view, we propose, to analyse the current technical and economic status quo of MRT in Europe. The overall aim is to collect the data necessary to issue a study for widespread distribution and to raise the overall awareness of the potentials at this key technology in order to stimulate its development and industrial application in Europe. Also, we shall draw conclusions from the findings and present these to the EC to allow her in future to take concerted steps to strengthen European competitiveness in the modern, resource-saving production domain of tomorrow.
