Objective
This project targets the development of a novel reduced energy ammonia recovery process using microporous ceramic membranes. This development project is based on fundamental research carried out in a previous JOULE project that demonstrated that silicalite membranes could give fluxes and selectivities that, when combined with a novel flow sheet, offered the prospects of significant energy savings in one of the largest chemical production processes. In the project the membrane systems will be further optimised both to improve performance and too significantly reduce production cost. These membranes will then be tested in a multitubular module under real operating conditions.
