Recovery of organic solvents in edible oil extraction by nanofiltration (ROSE)

Objective

This project aims at the development and industrial implementation of ceramic nanofilters in the edible oil refinery process for the recovery and recycling of organic solvent. In conventional oil processing, edible oils are usually extracted with an organic solvent, which is partly recovered by distillation. Thermally and chemically stable ceramic nanofilters offer an economical and environmentally friendly alternative for solvent recovery, due to diminished solvent losses and lower energy consumption. Earlier developed ceramic nanofilters, obtained by sol-gel technique, will be the starting point for this application. Development and characterisation of nanofilters with improved characteristics is within the scope of this project.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
