Towards zero liquid waste in plating industry by development and validation of closed-loop eco-efficient processes

Objective

Every day hundreds of thousands m3 of used water issued from water-treatment plants of the Plating workshops of the EC are discharged in the natural environment. These plants do not always work properly which entails with inconvenient toxic waste difficult to spot and to quantify. In front of this fact, several member states already forbid liquid waste in ecologically sensitive zones (groundwaters) and foresee a total banning of such waste in the years to come. The objective of the proposal is to reach the zero liquid waste on site by developing and validating a group of techniques of recycling and purification of effluents. Innovation aim as well at the limitation of pollution at its origin, as the clean-up of effluents and the recycling of the recovered water; they will be applicable to all plating workshops as replacement or as supplement to the existing water-treatment plants.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
