Collaborative improvement tool for the extended manufacturing enterprise (CO-IMPROVE)

Objective

The competitiveness of European companies, and SMEs in particular, will more and more rely on how fit they are as innovative and knowledge creative players within dynamic, complex integrated networks. Therefore CO- IMPROVE develops a business model, supported by a web based service platform, to improve collaborative (inter-firm) knowledge creation and sharing in the fields of new product development, order fulfilment and process improvement. CO-IMPROVE provides a framework for joint goal setting, alignment of inter- and intra- firm CI, inter-organisational teamwork, monitoring of the results and assessment of a company's Collaborative Improvement capabilities. The project adopts an action learning / action research approach in three EMEs (system integrator plus several SMEs suppliers each). As such CO-IMPROVE contributes to improve competition of European SMEs by providing them a valuable support to increase their role of knowledge creating partners within EMEs. The project also contributes to better use and development of human capitals also contributing to employees qualification, long term employability and Quality of Working life.
