Objective
The objective of this proposal is to develop an integrated set of methodologies, algorithms and computer-aided tools for designing and operating modern manufacturing networks and entire supply chains satisfying a number of simultaneous sustainability objectives and constraints while achieving an optimal degree of competition and cooperation. Suitable optimisation algorithms for the solution of underlying complex mathematical problems will be investigated in the course of this work. Furthermore, a computer-aided tool will be also developed to support the whole design and manufacturing activity. A number of industrial problems will be used to illustrate the potential and applicability of the integrated methodology and tools.
