Objective
The AMICA proposal addresses the inspection and preventive maintenance of two important problems, turbo-generator critical elements and train wheels premature flaw detection by means of an innovative approach based on ultrasonic phased- array technology. This versatile and adaptable technology is required to avoid components disassembly and to improve actual inspection in critical areas and to reach until now inaccessible zones. Different outputs, all of them exploitable in a separate way, will be obtained: Ultrasonic inspection procedures, 3D imaging and processing module (Software), sensors prototypes and electronics. As a result of this project, new practices in maintenance will be established. The consortium is composed of EU specialists in the different aspects of the project. Some of them will also act as active exploitation responsible.
