Development of a cost-effective 3d-braiding manufacturing process (including design & simulation technologies) for complex shaped high-performance composite products (cobraid)

Objective

Objective is development of technologies that allow for a cost-effective design & manufacturing process for 3D braided high-performance complex-shaped composites. The results will allow mass production of composite products for multi-sectoral applications (a/o road, air, water), and enables society to take full advantage of the superior performance of these composites (lightweight, environment friendly, fuel-efficient transport & construction). Starting point is integration of the entire composite manufacturing chain, involving end-users & technology developers. Starting from end-user requirements a fully automated new production process is developed based on CAB integration and high-speed bobbin&yarn movements. Advanced QC sensors are developed to control product & production quality. Subsequently, focus is on machine optimisation and textile product impregnation & testing . The design and manufacturing process is integrated and techno-economically evaluated.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
