Objective
The project focuses on the investigation of determinants to describe the efficiency of track systems and the demonstration of achieved improvements by means of the implementation of a prototype high speed track system. The behaviour of track systems is worked out with the view of proposing innovative high performance ballast less track structures for defined usage, based on the knowledge of already introduced track systems. Track techniques with its basic components are focused for infrastructure enhancements aiming at a strategy for LCC reduction. Installation, inspection, monitoring, life prediction and maintenance problems are highlighted to minimise track possession and enhance safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness. Finally the validity of the derived results are typified on a real high speed track system.
