Objective
Pigment printing is the most important printing technology for textile materials. More than 50% of the fabrics are printed by this technique, since it needs no washing off and can be applied on every type of fabric. The most innovative technique for the application of dyestuffs on textiles is inkjet technology, but so far no online fixation is realized, which prevents quick response and high flexibility. Online-curable pigment inks will be developed for application in inkjet printing using UV-curable binders. Focus is given on biodegradable dispersants. Curing will be performed with high energy light and photoinitiators. Advanced ink formulations will be applied with inkjet printers and fixed in an online-fixation unit, which will also be developed. The optimization and monitoring of the whole printing process will guarantee proper performance and results in high quality products, quick response and high flexibility.
