New generation dielectromagnetic based micromachines, components and materials

Objective

In recent years, the growth of the consumer electronics market has generated a growing requirement for small magnetic components in which the use of such dielectromagnetic technologies potentially offers a range of manufacturing, environmental and technical benefits over the conventionally used sheet magnetic parts, notably reduced materials usage, better energy efficiency and the ability for product recycling at end of life. However before these can be realised there remain a number of practical issues, which must be resolved concerning the design. This project aims to address these through a series of workpackages focussing on these issues.
