Objective
The primary technical goal of this project is the development of materials, technologies for and prototypes of a spectrum of passive components for the next generation of electronic control units working in harsh environments. Different temperature ranges will be addressed. -40 °C to 175°C (automotive short-term), and -40 °C to 225°C (automotive mid-term, and aerospace and oil-well short-term). Compatibility with suitable lead-free soldering, which will become a legislative demand, and recycling issues will be investigated. Based on lifetime models, suppliers and users will gain the knowledge about the technological limits of the devices, enabling to specify, qualify and use the new components. At the end of the project, a generic set of components specified for high temperature operation will be available, enabling system capability and commercialisation of high-temperature electronics.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
