Objective
The ELIMA project aims to enable eco-efficient management and acquisition of product life cycle data by closing the information loop in different phases of product life cycle. The project will design novel data collection methods and information systems, develop and test prototype consumer products, draft a European standard, and assess the life cycle benefits of the technology. The expected outputs include prototypes of products, a life cycle data database, tools for design and life cycle modelling and an environmental evaluation of ELIMA. The consortium for the project involves 8 partners from 4 EU countries, including 2 SMEs. The potential economic impact of the research is estimated at over 500m of benefits for producers, consumers and Commnunity. Social benefits include an estimated 2250 new jobs in high-tech. industries. Environmental benefits include reduction in energy consumption of products and reduced waste from end-of- life.
