Development of super vacuum insulating panels and product integration services

Objective

Global warming, ecological pollution and health issues drive the EU to seek for efficient reduction of energy consumption by thermal insulation. The proposed project suggests a new concept for thermal insulation of refrigerators, transportation boxes, cold storage rooms, buildings etc. The idea is to keep the insulating panels in vacuum inside sealed laminated bags (Vacuum Insulating Panels - VIPs).

The project work programme has two dimensions:
1. Improving VIP performance, including development of VIP barrier film, permeation test methods and VIP performance testing;
2. Service to efficiently integrate VIPs into end product, including modelling an optimisation of VIP performance under the different in-use conditions; flexible designing tools for efficient integration; performance test methods for VIPs and for integration of VIPs into end product, end-of-life program (recycling).

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
