Improving laser welding in automated manufacturing

Objective

The Car industry has been constantly improving and expanding its manufacturing and assembly processes in the last two decades. Due to this development the end- products have considerably improved in terms of comfort and safety. These improvements have lead to an increase in sales, but no comparable increase in employment has been yet observed. One reason for this development is that a lot of newer technologies employed in the manufacturing process require more attention and care than previous manufacturing methods. This project will be a RTD project whose key goal is to develop/improve a new, generation of machinery, production equipment and systems for manufacturing. This answers the targeted research action call on machines of the Growth program. The exploitation of the results can be expected as soon as 3 months following the completion of the project period since the results will be used in industrial production.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)
