Objective
The current severe market rules do not permit enterprises, especially SMEs in the metal coating sector, to develop new, technological and non-polluting products for the reduction of their substantial share in total VOC-emissions, fast enough to meet social and political expectations. Therefore, the proposed thematic network will facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge in industrial engineering and painting sector between universities, paint producers and users, research institutes, accredited laboratories and engineering consultancies, covering seven Member States and three Associated States.
Different types of scenarios representing a range of possible future states for the metals coating sector will be derived by bundling and disseminating experiences made in Europe. The assessment of the scenarios will consider environmental, economic and social aspects along the complete supply chain and life cycle. The main results of ISACOAT are to minimise environmental impact and to orientate the future choice of industrial R&D as well as of EU policy in the metal surface coating sector.
