Incorporation of new technologies in the european precision foundry industry

Objective

The use of rapid prototyping models and simulation software in the precision foundry industry has brought distinct improvements in terms of time to market new products, cost savings, feeding design, opening of new markets etc. The main objective of this network is to promote the use of standard procedures for the use of these tools and to analyse the environmental issues related to the foundry industry. A special effort will be made to disseminate these results at a European level.

The approach to achieving these objectives is the creation of an European network with 20 experienced partners that will work in the following main workpackages:
i) Rapid prototyping;
ii) Simulation software;
iii) Environmental issues;
iv) Dissemination and exploitation of the results;
v) Management and coordination of the network.
