Objective
The problem of waste is a world-wide problem, especially plastic waste, whose use has been hugely increasing for 20 years with the food-stuffs packing. The main objective of the project is to design a new innovative process allowing to manufacture recycled PET (Polyethylene terephtalate) profiles which will be used for a new range of applications. This activity is a now facing both economical and technical difficulties because PET materials are very hard to recycle. After this exploratory award, which will allow the 2 European SMEs to find new partners, to prepare an exploitation plan and the redaction of the future cooperative research, the technical work will be to study the different parameters of the new process. The 2 European SME proposers MP industries and Mecanizados y Acabos Torres are particularly interest in succeeding with this project since there are respectively manufacturer of recycled plastic products and manufacturer of tooling and moulds for the plastic materialsindustry. In respect of the exploitation, their ambition is to be more present on the market of recycled PET, which is now a small market, and which should represent large tonnage in a middle-term view (30 months from now).
