Objective
The project is aimed at developing and testing the constituent parts of a production method for vacuum insulation panels, resulting in flexible prototype production line for durable panels with a stainless steel envelope. This requires research in or development of :* A robust, fast and flexible laser welding method * Prositioning of the parts and pre-evacuation * Pre-treatment of the filler material, thermally and mechanically * A measurements device to test in line the conductivity and detect leak * A Construction system to connect panels * Expanded polistyrene with an open structure A vacuum insulation panel with stainless steel envelope exceeds the existing panels in lifetime, thermal resistance and temperature range. Using glass fiber allows to switch the thermal conductivity by a factor of 100, offering opportunities for new technologies. The panels will be used in buildings and in cooling or heating equipment.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
