Design of integrated re-configurable assembly cells

Objective

The project aims to develop reconfigurable robot cells to support manufacture of products with short life cycles; specifically systems and a methodology for reconfiguration and reuse. Currently Europe lags behind Japan & USA in the use of technology in this area, which offers lower cost opportunities for productions. The goals are to develop theoretical and software based techniques for task evaluation, to classify processes and their capabilities, to demonstrate methodologies and tools, and to illustrate the benefits with respect to time-to-market, cost saving plus improved product quality. The result will be a wider awareness of the benefits of this technology, an improvement in technical skill exploratory phase of this project will concentrate on the specific aspects of project feasibility, market analysis, novelty verification and a partner search in specific location across Europe.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
