Objective
The objective of the project is to develop new artificial turf fields with an optimal performance for outdoor soccer applications. Different aspects will be considered like safety requirements, mechanical, buimechanical and functional behaviour, comfort aspects, climatic behaviour, environment, maintenance and perception. This is an integral approach in which the characteristics of fields can be fitted to the needs of the local circumstances, incorporating the end-user's opinions and necessities. In the project the players in the production chain of artificial turf are participating: fibre manufacturers, turf manufacturers, field installers and end-users. Also a systematic approach will be introduced with which barriers between consumers and designers/manufacturers can be overcome. This approach incorporates development of a model in which all factors for a good product are placed, introducing the end-users' opinion into the design process and realising an advisory system in which the end-user can be helped selecting the right product for a specific location.
