Objective The increasing use of electronic equipment will require an environmentally and economically satisfactory method of recycling metals such as Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Gold, Platinum etc. At present the main problems are the transfer of the solid mixture of metals into solution, the subsequent separation and the recovery of all individual metals from mixed metal ion solutions. The projects objectives are to recycle all metals present in electronic devices (especially from Printed circuit boards and hard discs) by a novel combination of chemical and electrochemical methods. We expect to develop a portable, superior process for the recycling of metals from electronic wastes than existing methods.
