900 mpa ultra-high-pressure water jets

Objective

The goal of the project is to lead the water jet (WJ) technology to new fields of application by developing a high efficient 900 Map WJ system. The efficiency of a WJ is mainly depending on the hydraulic energy, the product of volume flow rate and pressure. The industry needs tools which create small width of cut with high cutting speed. With high pressure the nozzle diameter can be reduced by higher density of hydraulic energy compared to a state-of-the-art system with 400 Map. The specific properties of water (liquid-solid transition) and abrasives under ultra-high-pressure will be investigated and solved in this project. Requirements and reliability of pump and components have to be new defined. The fact, that European companies are in minority on the market of WJ cutting, shows the importance of this project. The development of this WJ tool which is able to cut thin metal plates without abrasives will open new markets in Europe and outside of the European Community.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
