Objective
Up till now there is no substantial product offer for the large market for furniture with more com-fort and functionality, with a modern look, aimed at the normal (senior) citizens, for a reasonable price. Causes are: lack of knowledge at the manufacturers of home furniture about the needs of the senior users; a design process not incorporating the needs of end-users; manufacturers that are small, having only limited skills and no R&D means. The proposers want to change this situation. They want to develop:- Design guidelines based on the properties and need of the elderly population- A new design methodology, incorporating the mentioned design guidelines- 2 Lines of comfortable configurable furniture, based on base element with additional modular elements- An ICT-linked design, production and central assembly chain to manufacture within 3 weeks after ordering, leading to a decrease in product price of 50%By this they want to set an example for the traditional industry and open up a whole new market, for senior citizens and others with comparable needs.
