Fertiliser from flue gas

Objective

The objective of the project is to develop a new sustainable technology for desulphurisation of flue gas and to use the sulphur as raw material for fertiliser. The clay brick and glass producing industry are emitting large amounts of environmentally harmful products like SO_2 and Fluorine from many different emission sources wide spread over Europe. The urgency of the project is apparent for them since it is expected that SO_2 emission ceilings and governmental requirements concerning the emission of will become stricter from 2003 onwards based on the EU Acidification Strategy and revisions and amendments to the Large Combustion Plants Directive. The proposers want to develop a novel technology to clean the flue gas and produce valuable raw materials.
