Objective
The main aim of this project is the development of a new line of sit-stand seats able to reduce significantly the problems reported in different workplaces with intermediate mobility and force exertion such as light assembly industries. These sit-stand seats will be highly adaptable to the variability of the workplaces involved by means of a modular approach and the worker acceptability will be a key factor in the design. This aim is developed in the following goals of the project:
1) Determination of the functions (movements, reaches) in typical workplaces for sit-stand seats.
2) Analysis of the load supported by workers as a function of support possibilities (standing, intermediate postures and conventional sitting).
3) Setting up of biomechanical models for optimal comfort, safety and health.
4) Turning into design criteria the biomechanical and subjective optima from the models.
5) Complete development of product including economics, manufacturing and materials.
6) Prototypes construction. Validation by workers in real workplaces.
7) Final design criteria and specification of the product for industrial production.
