Objective
The efficient and correct identification of the complex physico-chemical phenomena in chemical kinetics is fundamental for the optimal design of reactors and consequently for the overall process optimisation in the chemical industry and for the achievement of objectives such as product quality, energy saving, waste minimisation. This project proposes innovative and automated procedures, based on Al techniques, for better chemical kinetics identification in a reduced amount of time, using a limited amount of experiments and employing a reduced staff of scientists. The final result of this project is the development of a prototype, which will include innovative hardware (a fully automated temperature scanning plug flow reactor, with advanced control and data acquisition equipment) and software, based on formal reasoning (for the automated selecnon of nencs experiments, for the setting up of candidate reaction schemes and for the automated translation from the chemical into the algebraic language), numerical algorithms (for the identification of the parameters contained in the symbolic algebraic model) and powerful presentation graphics.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
