Objective
ALSO Danube aims to promote use of inland waterway as key mode of intermodal door-to-door transport chains. Innovate solutions and technologies for planning and managing integrated logistic chains, developed under FP4 and national RTD-projects will be modified. An open virtual network, with potential for application on broad European level, links operative actors and interconnects partly existing systems via common source logistic databases, interactively integrated to traffic management systems. WEB-based client applications, advanced EDI-solutions and innovative telematic technologies will be demonstrated and evaluated in five supply chains. Technical approach and operational concept correspond to SME and CEEC- operator needs and will create superior logistic services, increasing competitiveness of Danube and leading to micro and macro-economic benefits and strengthening economic integration of CEEC.
