European rail research advisory council (errac) - accompanying measure

Objective

The objective of the proposal is to support the European Rail Research Advisory Council (ERRAC) in its aim of increasing the effectiveness of rail research through the creation of a Strategic Research Agenda for rail, which in turn will support the achievement of a sustainable rail transport system. The proposal will support the activities of ERRAC members in the preparation and promotion of the Strategic Research Agenda. Through the project proposal, ERRAC members will obtain the necessary information on existing and planned research within the EU, on key factors affecting sustainable development of rail transport at the European level and beyond the EU borders and the resulting technological needs. Further they will research on the means to evaluate the outcome of research options against the identified technological needs, in order to assist and strengthen ERRAC's decision process.
