Objective
This project is a part of TRUETEC, a cluster formed by the majority of European truck manufacturers to develop new diesel engine technologies, aiming at euro-iv and euro-v emission levels. FUNIT belongs to the sub cluster - injection and combustion, aimed to develop the combustion system in general and the injection system in particular. FUNIT covers the development of future electronic unit injectors (EUI). Within the project, an injector supplier will develop two new generations of flexible EUI systems.
One industrial medium duty/heavy duty (md/hd) diesel engine manufacturer, two md/hd diesel engine developers and two universities will carry out one-cylinder engine tests and computer simulations of the new EUI systems, in order to lower particulates matter (PM) and nitric oxides (NOx), while maintaining or reducing the fuel consumption.
