Design of an advanced composite production process for the systematic manufacture of very large monocoque hybrid sandwich structures for transport sectors - hycoprod -

Objective

At present the major problem in the composite manufacturing industry is that there is no feasible method for manufacturing very large monocoque composite sandwich structures. HYCOPROD (HYbrid COmposite PRODuction) will address this problem. The major objective of HYCOPROD to design an advanced composite production process for the systematic manufacture of very large monocoque hybrid composite sandwich structures for the transportation sectors. HYCOTRANS (BRPR CT96 0257) demonstrated that monocoque composite sandwich structures could be designed to absorb energy and perform in a predictable and stable manner. Exploitation of this novel technology depends on the invention of a new process that can accommodate very large structures such as buses, trains, refrigerated containers and trailers. End users representing the transport sectors are convinced that the materials technology for these applications is proven but are aware of the need for HYCOPROD.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
