Objective
TROWS gains insight into tyre and road wear process in order to reduce both tyre and road wear. Tyre wear reduction leads to less emission of rubber, less worn tyres disposal and less energy for tyre production as well as less vehicle maintenance costs. By road wear reduction road maintenance is reduced. The created models and test procedures allow a more effective design process for tyres and vehicle suspensions and will lead to improved design rules for both tyres and road surfaces. The work plan uses an integrated experimental and numerical approach. Through well-conditioned Carousel tests, road surface wear and truck tyre wear for pure cornering conditions is assessed. By driving several vehicles on representative roads a realistic tyre wear assessment is achieved. By combining experimental results with vehicle usage data, stochastic road description, contact patch model and tyre structural model an effective modelling environment is realised.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
