Objective
ADVANCE aims at improving the current level of passenger safety simulations via implementation of most up to date simulation technologies into existing crash and safety simulation codes. This is due to the fact that passenger safety simulations, using numerical dummies show great sensitivities to different modelling issues such as structural, material and restraint system modelling. A general-purpose software tool will be developed in order to allow for an automatic evaluation of the quality of the simulations as well as the passenger related criteria. Improved simulations will be compared to existing ones and parametric studies on the influence of crash environment modelling on passenger safety evaluations will de devised. Guidelines for optimisation and response fitting of the simulations will be produced.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
