Development of innovatrice structural concepts for advanced passenger vessels (DISCO)

Objective

The development in the cruise ship industry has been very fast during the last 10 years, putting many challenges on everyone involved in the business. Modern architectural design and new safety regulations demand more complicated and sophisticated structures, which have a strong influence on the ship hull structural concept. The objective in the DISCO project is to develop new global and local structural solutions that will better meet the needs. At the same time the design and construction of these concepts must be managed by the yards with limited economical, technical and timing risks. Methods and programs to analyse and verify the solutions will also be developed. The project will contribute to the future success of the European cruise vessel constructions and help the yards to maintain their position in the market. The development in the cruise ship industry has been very fast
