Objective
The LibeRTiN TN focuses on light rail (LR) and light metro systems. Simplification and harmonisation of these standards across Europe would decrease the ownership costs of rolling stock and equipment for the benefit of all stakeholders and of the European Union. Principal objectives: - to accelerate the establishment of an Internal Market for LR/light metro in the European Union - to promote the attractiveness, affordability, flexibility and sustainability of IR/light metro systems and to enhance the competitiveness of the LR-mode compared with other modes. Over a duration of 36 months LibeRTiN will deal with 5 working groups: Harmonisation/legislation, safety, seamless transport, environment/energy and LCC/RAM. UITP and UNIFE members are linked to the TN (input and output).
