Objective
In this project, a high-flux system producing oxygen-enriched air will be developed. First calculations promise a72 percent net power increase over conventional turbo-charging. The reduction of nitrogen and the enrichment of oxygen in air for motive combustion has the following advantages:
(1) Enhanced power to diesel and gasoline engines (min.70% net power increase).
(2) Significantly lower soot and VOC emissions through complete and clean combustion (min. 95% reduction).
(3) Significantly reduced N2 intake into the combustion process and therefore reduced NOx emission potential and smaller exhaust gas system requirements (min. 75% reduction).
(4) Broader use of high viscosity diesel-fuelled engines.
(5) Reduced peak cylinder pressure.
(6) Reduced start-up emissions.
(7) Other industrial fields of application are increasing power densities in fuel cells or gasification processes.
(8) Other private sector applications include lightweight portable respirator units and improved blood oxygenators.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
