Certification and human error considerations - knowledge propogation into new safety critical technologies

Objectif

In Transport and other Safety Critical Technologies 60-80% of accidents have Human Error as a major factor. However, there are no agreed minimum standards for considering the vulnerabilities to human error in these systems. In the Aerospace domain, Regulatory Authorities and Industry have joined forces to evaluate the certification process. An FAA/JAA Harmonization Working Group (HWG) will propose new ways of addressing the vulnerabilities of a design to human error in this process. CHECKPOINT will participate in the HWG to promulgate the results of European research projects and involve stakeholders in the process. CHECKPOINT will influence the rulemaking process, prepare industry for compliance and disseminate lessons learned to other safety critical domains. It will ideally position the EC for the preparation of future R&D and policymaking activities.
