Objective
Abradables and seals for future advanced aero-engines, like the technology platform vehicles, are developed for increased temperature capability and extended lifetime and reliability. Trial components and prototypes of abradables and seals are designed, manufactured and tested according to turbine application requirements. A temperature capability up to 1200° C and lifetime and reliability up to 36.000 hours has to be achieved. The properties of high temperature materials, like PM 200, MCrAIy's, nickel aluminides as well as structures like honeycombs, filled honeycombs, foams and hollow sphere structures are evaluated. The material/structure combinations which meet the advanced requirements are tested and validated in a real aero-engine environment in order to develop the most capable innovative technology.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
