Advanced welding technologies for repair and salvage of high valued engine components on nickel and titanium based alloys

Objective

The proposed RTD project will submit an integrated repair technology for blade repair, focussing on two part families (BLISK blades with 3D blading, HPT blades) and two basic weld repair technologies (Laser Cladding -LC and Capacity discharge welding - CDW). On BLISKs, 75% of the blade height will be replaced and build up again, whilst on HPT blades the TIP area of the blade will be replaced and build up. The project is structured in 10 problem solving orientated work packages combining analytical and experimental approach and assuring fast result assimilation of all European aero engine manufacturers. The innovative aspect of this project is to deliver a completely industrial usable repair process including process control. On BLISKS the project closes the technology gap of a missing integrated repair technology. By closing this gap the project will offer the European aerospace industry reliable and cost efficient repair and salvage methods

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
