Objective
Definition of a third generation liquid management system for aircraft based on smart distributed components to improve system reliability and availability together with a reduction of weight and operating cost. The project covers the following objectives: Fuel system requirements analysis; comparative analysis of available bus systems; definition of a fail safe bus communication protocol; digitising of components and sensors; definition of a common central processing unit for all components; centralised and distributed diagnosis and built in test; definition of stand alone subsystems; definition of the Fuel Computer; development of a simulation system for liquid management system and component performance investigation; provision of sample equipment; validation of the performance by fuel wet test on a rig; provision of design guidelines and certification aspects for the component manufactures.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
