Objective
The integration of innovative multimedia maintenance manual (4M), web-based systems for NDI processes, and the development of a virtual environment, will result in saving costs and guaranteeing high levels of safety. It will reduce considerably the "human factor" as a potential influence on the measured results. The 4M is meant to provide NDT inspectors with exactly the amount of information they need. A computer expert system will guide their tasks and enable the generation of "procedures on demand". The introduction of WWW key-concepts will activate advanced real-time data/information processing for remote inspection training, set-up and diagnosis. Specific tasks devoted to the development of virtual analysis instruments will improve notably the diagnosis and monitoring processes. Topics on NDT data management, processing, life cycle monitoring and integration with CAD systems will be tackled.
